Privacy policy
Updated on November 8, 2026
FamyWay exists so family and friends can travel together. This policy explains what data the app and this site use, what for, and how you can decide what happens to it. Before the app uses any new kind of data, this page says which one and why, with the date at the top.
Who is responsible for your data
Mauricio Gabiolli, in Brazil, is responsible for your data, as both the controller and the data protection officer under Brazil's General Data Protection Law. For any question or request about your data, write toprivacidade@famyway.com.
The data the app uses
When the app looks for updates, FamyWay receives your IP address, your phone's operating system, the app version and a random code created the first time the app opens. If the app fails to open, FamyWay also receives a description of the error. This data is used only to deliver the right update, fix errors and keep the service secure. The app only uses your location during a trip, as the next section explains. It doesn't ask for access to your contacts, camera or photos, and it doesn't ask you to sign up.
Your location, during a trip
When you're on an active trip and you allow it, the app reads your phone's location (the position, with the accuracy, speed and direction the phone reports) and sends it to FamyWay, so the people traveling with you can see where you are.
- Only the people on that trip can see your position, and only while the trip is active. When the trip ends, sharing stops for everyone.
- Even when the app is closed, your location keeps being shared until the trip ends. On Android, a notification shows while this happens.
- With no signal, your phone keeps the positions and sends them when the signal comes back. When the trip ends, whatever was kept on the phone is deleted.
- FamyWay keeps your last position and the route you took on the trip for 90 days, and then deletes them. To delete them sooner, write to privacidade@famyway.com.
- Your location is never made public.
This site
This site doesn't use cookies or visitor analytics, and it doesn't load anything from other sites.
Where the data is
FamyWay's servers run on Cloudflare, a worldwide network. Connection data may therefore pass through servers outside Brazil. Each person's last position and route on a trip are stored on Cloudflare, on servers that may also be outside Brazil. Trips and who is on each one are kept in a database in São Paulo. Everything travels encrypted.
Minors
FamyWay is for people 18 and older.
Your rights
At any time, you can ask to see what data we have, correct it, get a copy or delete it. You can also withdraw any consent you've given and exercise your other rights under Brazil's General Data Protection Law. Just write toprivacidade@famyway.com.
