On FamyWay, your location is up to you. It's shared only during the trip, only with the people on it, and you can pause it anytime.
Only during the trip
Your location is shared only while the trip is underway, and only with the people on it. While you plan, nobody shows up on the map, and when the trip ends, location sharing stops for everyone.
Pause whenever you want
Pausing your location takes one tap, anytime, and you can resume when you're ready. No one, not even the people who manage the circle, can turn your location on or stop you from pausing it. If you prefer, the group sees only your approximate area instead of your exact spot.
One permission at a time
The app explains each phone permission before asking for it. Location with the app closed is only requested when the trip starts, and contacts only when you choose to invite someone from them. If you say no to a permission, the rest of the app keeps working.
What never becomes public
None of this can ever be made public:
- your current location
- the cars and who's in each one
- where you're heading and notes on the map
- check-ins as they happen
- kids who travel as dependents
- albums
- help requests
- exact times
The trip board is only for the people on the trip, circles never show up in public searches, and a public profile is optional and off by default.
Kids travel as dependents
FamyWay is for people 18 and older. Kids and teens join the trip as dependents, added by an adult in the circle: they don't need an account or a phone, they have no location of their own, and they never appear in public.
Your data
Location history is kept for 90 days, and you can delete it sooner. You can download your data whenever you want, and deleting your account erases your trips, photos, reviews and location history within 30 days. Everything travels and is stored encrypted.

FamyWay is for people who travel together and agree to share their location. Don't use the app to see where someone is without them knowing and agreeing.

Can someone in my circle see where I am outside a trip?
No. Outside a trip that's underway, your location isn't shared with anyone.
Can the person who manages the circle turn my location on?
No. No one can turn your location on or stop you from pausing it.
